Who we are
SG Marine & Tech ("we", "us") is based in Cork, Ireland. We are the controller of the personal data described in this notice. You can contact us about privacy at hello@sgmarine.ie.
Discretion is central to our work. We never publish the names of clients, vessels or properties, and we treat every enquiry in confidence.
What we collect
When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), the type of project and your message.
When you email, phone or message us on WhatsApp we receive the details you choose to share.
When you visit the site our host, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver the site securely and protect it from abuse. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To reply to your enquiry and take steps you request before entering into a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To provide our services under a contract with you or your organisation (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep the website secure and understand overall usage, which is in our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To meet legal obligations such as accounting and tax records (Article 6(1)(c)).
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers to run this website and our business:
- Cloudflare – website hosting, security and cookieless analytics.
- Web3Forms – delivers contact form submissions to our inbox.
- Our email provider – stores our business correspondence.
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as needed to provide our services and for up to seven years afterwards to meet legal and tax obligations.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@sgmarine.ie. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, so we do not ask for cookie consent.
- Our fonts are hosted on this site, so no data is sent to font providers.
- Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (for example
__cf_bm) to protect the site from automated abuse. These cookies are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Regulations. - Links to WhatsApp, email or LinkedIn take you to those services, which have their own privacy and cookie policies.
If we ever add non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
